We start with real experience
Our editors and a circle of trusted locals try services, visit places, and compare notes. Where we cannot try everything ourselves, we lean on the people we know who have.
We ask around, properly
We read the reviews people actually leave, ask friends and industry contacts, and check that a business is still operating, still answering the phone, and still doing the work it is known for.
One honest Recommend Score
Every pick carries a single score out of 10. It answers one question: how confidently would we send a friend here? No fifty-criteria matrix, just an honest number we stand behind.
Why we recommend, in plain words
Each pick lists the specific reasons it earned its place, who it suits best, and its price band. If we would not say it to a friend over coffee, we do not publish it.
Awards mark the standouts
The top pick of each topic earns SGRecommends Choice for the year. Editor's Pick, Value Pick and Rising Star mark businesses that shine in their own way. Awards are earned, never sold.
Advertising never buys a rank
Businesses can pay to be Featured at the top of a topic page. That slot is clearly labelled, styled differently, and never moves our editorial picks by a single position.
